Preparing Your Items for a Winter Move

Moving to a new home during the winter months presents unique challenges, but with proper preparation, you can ensure a smooth and stress-free transition. One of the key aspects of a winter move is taking extra care in preparing your items for the journey. Here are some tips to help you protect your belongings and make the process as seamless as possible.

Snowy Moving Truck
  1. Start Early: Begin the packing process well in advance of your move date. Winter weather can be unpredictable, so having everything packed and ready to go will reduce the risk of items getting damaged due to hasty packing. To book early moves, contact https://totalmovingwinnipeg.ca
  2. Protect Your Fragile Items: Winter moves can be tough on fragile items like glassware, ceramics, and electronics. Use bubble wrap, packing paper, and sturdy boxes to provide extra protection. Double-boxing delicate items can also help insulate them from the cold.
  3. Keep Valuables Close: Valuables such as important documents, jewelry, and irreplaceable sentimental items should be kept with you during the move. Don’t pack them with your other belongings to ensure their safety.
  4. Climate-Controlled Storage: If you need to store your items temporarily, consider renting a climate-controlled storage unit. Extreme cold can damage sensitive items, such as wood furniture, musical instruments, and artwork. A climate-controlled unit will maintain a stable temperature and humidity level to protect your belongings. For storage options, visit: https://totalstoragewinnipeg.ca
  5. Pack Clothing Wisely: Winter moves often mean bulky clothing, coats, and boots. Vacuum-sealed bags can save space and keep your clothing dry and clean during the move. Don’t forget to pack a bag of essential winter gear, so you can easily access warm clothing on moving day.
  6. Wrap Furniture: Furniture can be especially vulnerable during a winter move. Wrap your furniture in moving blankets or plastic wrap to protect it from moisture and cold temperatures. If you have wooden furniture, be mindful of the potential for warping due to temperature changes.
  7. Monitor the Weather: Stay informed about the weather forecast for both your current location and your new destination. Plan your moving day accordingly, and be prepared to reschedule if a severe winter storm is imminent.

By taking these precautions, you can help ensure your items arrive at your new home safe and sound during a winter move. Remember, careful planning and attention to detail are key to a successful relocation, regardless of the season.

James Watkins 21 points AVIS PHOTOS MODIFICATIONS 1 avis Total Storage Winnipeg 21 Blumberg Trail, Headingley, MB R4H 0B1 We were looking for help to clean out our Mom's house as we prepare to sell it. From the initial contact to completion of the huge job, the Team at Total Moving were competent, courteous, professional, and on time. When I had any questions or requests, I recieved clear and courteous attention to detail answers. Emptying out a house load of memories is a tough thing to do. The crew and I had a few laughs about some of the stuff especially my really OLD hockey Cooperalls😂 Seeing as I'm not quite ready to let some stuff go, I was happy to have the option to store it at Total Storage. The culture onsite was the same as the Moving side. I was able to remove all the stuff, store it, and put up the for sale sign this week. "TOTAL" one stop shop. Highly recommend this team of absolute pros!! Jim W. 1

Great experience start to finish! The communication from start to finish was great, everything was explained in detail, received a preliminary invoice and on-going communication up until moving day. All three guys that came on moving day were extremely professional, were very careful with the furniture and also careful not to knick any of the walls. This whole process definitely helped with moving day and I would use them again and recommend them to anyone. Thanks Colby!
